Phil Swarbrick established The Orbital Welding Company (Now Orwelco (Barrow) Ltd) in 1988. He believed he could offer a specialised piping and welding service through out the pharmaceutical, oil and gas, chemical, water treatment and construction Industries.
Since inception in 1988, Orwelco has successfully fulfilled major contracts for Tronic, Seacon Phoenix, Diamould, HMB Alliance, BAE Systems (Marine), BAE Systems (Royal Ordnance), BAE Systems (Combat Systems), Sony, Smith Kline Beechams, NEC, Glaxo, Ford, Motorola, Cadbury, and Coca Cola etc.
In fulfilling these contracts the materials used included all 300 series stainless steels, hastalloy, Cu-ni, Monel, Carbon Steel, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. Several of the above contracts included auto and manual welding in clean room environments.
In 1997 Orwelco became a limited company and in July 2001 relocated to its current site. We can now offer services in specialised welding (including site work), machining, sheet metalwork, surface flaw crack detection N.D.T, and fabrication.
The company has invested substantialy since 2001 and now believes it is in a position to offer an improved service to current customers and is ready to take on the challenge of new customers without compromising the current customer base.
